for waist measurements the smaller number is the smallest size it adjusts too, the bigger number is the waist pulled flat and full extended!(aka 26-36x17 means fully adjusted they can go down to a 26 inch waist and fit up to a 36 inch waist(aka 36 flat). they also have 17 inch inseam)
